Biography
Hailing from California, Tim Atlas crafts vibrant indie pop infused with R&B, jazz, and an array of additional sonic elements. His appearance on the 2015 edition of The Voice preceded the arrival of his EP All Talk! in 2018.
Originally named Tim Ferguson at birth in Oakland, this San Jose resident immersed himself in music during his formative years through participation in marching band, jazz band, and drumline, while independently mastering the guitar. Following completion of a photography degree, he took on engineering roles inside recording studios. An initial phase performing with the alt-rock outfit April Chase preceded his first solo release, the 2013 EP Lost in the Waiting. That six-track collection presented a style echoing John Mayer and Ed Sheeran as interpreted via Phoenix or Borns.
Atlas secured a significant opportunity in 2015 when Gwen Stefani selected him for her roster during the ninth season of the televised singing contest The Voice. His performance of Ed Sheeran's "Give Me Love" earned the spot, allowing him to advance to the seventh episode before transferring to Pharrell Williams' roster. Though eliminated by the 19th episode, he issued several 2016 singles marked by richer production textures and atmospheric qualities, among them "Compromised" and "The Other Side," which led directly to the 2018 EP All Talk! After headlining shows across the U.S. and U.K. plus opening slots with No Vacation, the Lagoons, and Mating Ritual, he delivered his third EP, Together Lonely.
