Tote King first entered professional music in 1999 as a member of La Alta Escuela, appearing on their album En Pie de Vuelo alongside MC Zatu from SFDK, Mala Rodríguez, and La Gota Que Colma. His solo path opened with the Big King XXL demo and the maxi Duermen. In 2002 he teamed with his brother to launch the duo Tote King & Shotta, which issued the maxi Nada Para Mí—securing Tote King the 2002 Hip-Hop Nation award for Best Rookie MC—and the long-player Tu Madre Es una Foca, both through Superego. The next year he delivered the solo maxi Matemáticas, which led directly into his debut LP, Música Para Enfermos. Three years after that the rapper finished his second album, Un Tipo Cualquiera, issued on Boa Music and produced almost entirely by Big Hozone with a guest appearance from Vast Aire of Cannibal Ox. In 2008, again via Boa Music, Tote King presented his third LP, T.O.T.E., which reflected a striking stylistic shift.
