Biography
Leaders Alexandra and Zachary James front Twin Temple, a unit nicknamed the Satanic doo wop band for its raw delivery. The pair built a devoted following in 2016 through the release of Bring You Their Signature Sound...Satanic Doo-Wop, an opening statement that fused old-school R&B, pop, and rock with a soulfully kitschy sensibility.
Formed in Los Angeles, Twin Temple officially began on Halloween 2016 once married creative partners Alexandra and Zachary James decided to merge their affection for traditional R&B and rock & roll with their Satanist practice. The two first connected in 2008, when singer Alexandra (née Alexandra Lee) invited guitarist Zachary to join her '70s glitter rock-influenced group Alexandra & the Starlight Band. During the years that followed, they shaped the Twin Temple style by blending elements from classic girl groups such as the Marvelettes, Chuck Berry’s rootsy guitar rock, and the Satanic pop imagery of the Misfits and Screamin' Jay Hawkins. In 2018 they released their debut album, Bring You Their Signature Sound...Satanic Doo-Wop, captured in mono during a rapid two-day session. The standalone single “Satan Is a Woman” appeared in 2019.
