Brimstone Coven

Brimstone Coven came together as a stoner-metal and doom-metal foursome in early 2011 when guitarist and principal songwriter Corey Roth initiated the project. Drawing on early material that channeled the spirit of Black Sabbath and Pentagram, Roth recruited players from the local metal community in Wheeling, West Virginia, bringing bassist Andrew D'Cagna, drummer Justin Wood, and singer John Williams into the fold to pursue a weighty, retro-styled approach. The group’s first recordings surfaced via an independent EP in 2012, with the follow-up full-length II arriving under its own imprint the next year. During the sessions for their planned third album, III, Metal Blade Records—a veteran imprint devoted to heavy music—signed the band and issued a 2014 self-titled collection that remastered and combined the earlier EP and II, accompanied by fresh artwork.
