Two Hours Traffic, a Canadian indie rock outfit drawing from the sounds of Big Star, Nick Lowe, and the Cars, took their name from a passage in Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet. The group came together in 2003 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, as longtime friends Liam Corcoran and Alec O'Hanley linked up with fellow University of PEI students Andrew MacDonald and Derek Ellis. That year they issued the six-track EP The April Storm, which caught the ear of Nova Scotia's leading indie rocker Joel Plaskett. Plaskett handled production duties on the band's self-titled debut album, issued in 2005, and returned to the studio for the 2006 EP Isolator as well as the 2007 full-length Little Jabs. In 2008 Little Jabs appeared on the short list for Canada's prestigious Polaris Music Prize.
