Biography
U.N.L.V. became Cash Money Records’ inaugural signing at a time when the label later drew national attention through acts including the Hot Boyz, Juvenile, Baby Gangsta, Lil’ Wayne and others. Working alongside Pimp Daddy, the group originated a distinctive New Orleans hip-hop aesthetic while laying groundwork for the subsequent achievements that followed under the CMR banner. Although 6th & Baronne, their debut release, enjoys classic status throughout Louisiana, the crew’s widest recognition stems from “Drag Em ’n’ Tha River,” a cut on Uptown 4 Life that delivers an extended lyrical attack on No Limit Records’ rapper Mystikal.
