Biography
In 2011 the husband-and-wife singer/songwriter duo Michael and Carissa Rae Alvarado assembled Us the Duo, an enterprising folk-pop outfit based in Southern California. Before their wedding the Alvarados posted inventive YouTube clips of brief a cappella covers of current pop songs that drew 23 million views and prompted them to begin writing original material, which produced their first album, Us. Immediately after the ceremony they delivered their next batch of originals, No Matter Where You Are, a release that climbed to number 19 on the Billboard Heatseeker chart, generated widespread press coverage, secured television spots on Good Morning America, and earned them a contract with Universal Republic that triggered a 2014 reissue of the same album. The much-anticipated follow-up, Just Love, appeared in 2016 after sessions at The Smoakstack Studio in Nashville, Tennessee alongside co-producer Nathan Thomas.
