Biography
In 2007 the Canadian alternative dance duo USS (Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker) came together in Toronto, uniting vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Ashley Buchholz, who performs as Ash Boo-Schultz, with turntablist and hype man Jason Parsons, known on stage as Human Kebab. The pair quickly cultivated an energetic stage presence the following year while issuing their first independent EP, Welding the C:/, and scoring a regional hit with the track “Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole.” By 2009 they were opening for reggae-fusion hitmakers IllScarlett across Canada and unveiling their well-received debut album Questamation. Another EP, Approved, arrived in 2011, followed in 2014 by the crowdsourced Advanced Basics, marking USS’s initial release to receive distribution beyond Canadian borders.
