Biography
Since the early 2010s Vicktor Taiwò has refined a spacious and intensely expressive approach to alternative R&B. The Nigerian-born singer-songwriter, who relocated from Abeokuta to East London, England, at age eight, first committed to music as his chief artistic focus on New Year’s Day 2012. “Digital Kids” reached listeners through an episode of the televised adaptation of Dear White People before the close of 2013. That track anchored Juno, a five-song EP heavy with similarly introspective ballads that Yebo Music released in the middle of 2015. Taiwò later signed with Innovative Leisure, which put out the four-track EP First Movement in 2018; his debut full-length, Joy Comes in Spirit, appeared soon after.
