Biography
Vietnom delivers metallic New York City hardcore with unrelenting force, propelled by a two-man vocal approach modeled on hip-hop, crushing riffs, and pounding rhythms built to ignite mosh pits. The group stands as the fullest embodiment of the DMS Crew, an informal network of bands, promoters, street toughs, and allies who mutually back one another and counts participants from Agnostic Front, H20, Son of Skam, and additional acts among its ranks. Lyrically Vietnom champions the same priorities—drugs, money, and sex—long explored by fellow DMS acts Skarhead and Madball. The name originates not with the war-scarred Southeast Asian nation but with frontman and graffiti artist Nom One. Joined by his regular vocal partner Scorcese, Nom launched the band to release pent-up frustrations. Guitarist AK Ray 47 remains the only other fixed member, while the rhythm section rotates across the pair of aggressive releases issued on the Uprising label. The 2000 EP Strictly the Real first presented the New York City outfit to listeners. Following that release the band devoted considerable time to shaping its debut full-length, Death Is the Outcome, which featured guest contributions from Ezec of Skarhead and Freddy Madball.
