W. H. Lung

In 2017 the Manchester trio W.H. Lung surfaced with a single called Inspiration!/Nothing Is that showcased their sparkling synth pop intertwined with Motorik Krautrock. Schoolfriends Joseph E on vocals and synths, Tom S on guitar, and Tom P on bass had first assembled the project strictly for studio work, yet the release immediately generated demand for live appearances, leading the group onto stages at British festivals such as Greenman and End of the Road. Taking cues from LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, Prince, and Julia Holter, among others, the three-piece reentered the studio to shape a debut album. Those influences were refined into Incidental Music, issued in early 2019 after the earlier singles “Bring It Up,” “Second Death of My Face,” and “Simpatico People.”
