Biography
Legend has it that at age twelve Ellwood talked his parents into purchasing an inexpensive guitar that was barely functional. Its severely warped neck made chord formation impossible, prompting him to develop the right-handed picking technique he still employs. The Canadian-born musician later turned his attention to Renaissance and Baroque repertoire, mastering the lute on his own and commissioning a seven-string guitar that enabled him to arrange lute works without losing any voicings. Classical influences surface throughout his Narada releases, even as the music maintains a soft, contemporary character.
