Biography
Born Yesser Roshdi in November 1986 in Amsterdam, Yes-R rose as a Dutch rap star after his cousin Ali B, already a leading figure in the local scene, drew him into the genre. He stepped into professional Dutch rap circles in 2003 by signing with fellow hip-hop artist Lange Frans and the D-Men Entertainment Group. Early tracks earned modest attention and brought him the Audience Award at the 2004 Grote Prijs van Nederland, yet his career shifted decisively only after he parted ways with Lange Frans and D-Men to link up with Ali B. That alliance produced the hit single “Leipe Mocro Flavor,” which in turn opened doors to profitable work in television and acting. Although he kept releasing music, the high points of his output remained the 2005 album Mijn Pad and the 2007 release Zakenman.
