Yoke Lore represents the solo outlet of Adrian Galvin, previously a member of Walk the Moon and the creator of the earlier solo endeavor Yellerkin. His approach delivers an energetic brand of indie pop calibrated for the farthest reaches of festival audiences. The project began with a string of EPs, starting with the anthemic Far Shore in 2016 and continuing with the more introspective Goodpain the following year, the latter featuring the gold-certified track "Beige." Over subsequent years Galvin favored concise releases, issuing the Absolutes EP in 2018 before issuing standalone tracks such as the 2020 collaboration "Sensitive Heart" alongside Jax Anderson, the 2022 release "Pastel Auras" with Elohim, and the bittersweet 2023 single "Winona."

Born and raised in Katonah, New York, to a director and an actor/sculptor, Galvin received early encouragement to pursue both visual and performing arts, later narrowing his focus to drumming and dance. While attending college he contributed songs to Walk the Moon and launched Yellerkin as a solo act in 2013. The debut Yoke Lore EP, Far Shore, arrived in May 2016 via B3SCI Records and showcased bright, harmonic anthems paired with emphatic drumming; several tracks soon appeared in programs on MTV and Netflix. By that point based in Brooklyn, where he helped establish the dance collective Boomerang, Galvin saw "Hold Me Down" accumulate seven-figure streaming numbers before the close of the year. During the opening months of 2017 he made his SXSW debut and supported Overcoats on a U.S. tour.

Goodpain, the second Yoke Lore EP, surfaced in June 2017, after which "Beige" amassed hundreds of millions of streams and secured RIAA gold status. Absolutes followed in July 2018, and Meditations appeared in mid-2019 with "gutted" and "bared" renditions of prior material alongside fresh tracks. A series of singles continued in the ensuing period, among them August 2019's "Everybody Wants to Be Loved" featuring NVDES, 2020's "Sensitive Heart" with Jax Anderson, and 2021's "You Don't Look at Me the Same" alongside Great Good Fine Ok. The 2022 output included the Elohim collaboration "Pastel Auras," while the first half of 2023 brought a tour with Goth Babe, the track "More of Your Love" with JR JR, and the post-breakup power ballad "Winona." Galvin subsequently performed at festivals and embarked on a North American headlining run.
