In 2009, friends Noah Kardos-Fein and Rick Daniel launched the indie industrial duo Yvette in Brooklyn. Kardos-Fein handled guitar and vocals while navigating an array of pedals and effects, and Daniel supplied drums alongside assorted electronics, allowing the pair to shape a murky, brutal aesthetic that twisted pop forms into dense, unrecognizable layers of sound reminiscent of psych pop groups such as Animal Collective and Liars. After their initial releases, the music shifted toward raw, shapeless industrial-tinged experimentalism in the vein of underground pioneers like Throbbing Gristle and This Heat. The duo put out two 7" singles and several tracks before unveiling their first full-length album, Process, in 2013. Once the record appeared, Daniel departed and drummer Dale Eisinger took his place.
