From Hackney in East London, 23 Unofficial crafts tracks that fuse rap, R&B, and Afro bashment into something both catchy and easy to relate to. His emergence came in 2017 with multiple singles, highlighted by "Ain't Bothered," whose relaxed delivery helped it accumulate millions of streams. That track appeared on his first album, The Unofficial Album, which came out the next year.

As a youngster, 23 Unofficial gave little consideration to music as a profession, even as he frequently joined friends like Not3s at the recording studio. In one such session, Not3s requested a verse from him, and impressed by his inherent skill, encouraged Unofficial to focus on his own material. N.A., who ran the studio, recognized the same potential and proposed handling his management and production duties. Results from those initial efforts surfaced in 2017 through singles such as "Naughty" with Not3s, "Torn," "Ain't Bothered," and "Can't Tell Me." In 2018, 23 Unofficial inked a deal with Island Records and put out his debut full-length, boasting appearances by PNVSN, Tayá, and M Huncho.
