Biography
Puerto Rican ensemble 3-2 Get Funky first appeared in 1993 when they issued their debut album through RMM, spotlighting the hit singles "Sabor Latino" and "La Chica Que Yo Quiero." Both tracks were written by Mikie Perfecto, the singer and producer who spent his early years in New York before relocating to Puerto Rico. After securing their initial gold record, the Latin hip-hop and tropical group followed with the salsa-infused sophomore effort The Return of the Funky Ones, which unveiled the ragafunk sound—a fusion of rap and reggae—and then delivered 1996’s Funky Business. Mikie Perfecto launched a solo career in 1999, shifting toward a stronger tropical direction on his first individual release, Angel Perdido. Even so, 3-2 Get Funky returned to the charts in 2002 with the track "Bailen" from the album The Time Is Right.
