Biography
A Few Good Men formed as a contemporary R&B quartet consisting of vocalists Tony Amey, Demail Burks, Aaron Hilliard, and David Morris, with a focus on romantic ballads and understated grooves. Based in Atlanta, the group landed a contract with LaFace, the Arista imprint launched by L.A. Reid and Babyface. Their earliest chart appearance came via a cover of "Silver Bells" featured on the holiday release A LaFace Family Christmas. The 1994 debut album A Thang for You contained the modest success "A Lil' Somethin'," an early co-production by Christopher "Tricky" Stewart that climbed to number 73 on the Billboard R&B chart. Follow-up Take a Dip posted modestly stronger results through singles "Tonite" and "Have I Never," the latter written by Babyface and reaching the R&B Top 40, while its artwork echoed the style of Ohio Players covers.
