Alternative R&B singer Amaria crafts a contemporary style rooted in the understated yet captivating qualities of neo-soul, following the example set by Erykah Badu and Amel Larrieux. Hailing from Tampa, the artist launched her professional career on New Year’s Day 2020 by issuing the self-written and self-produced single “Morning,” an assured debut from the performer who was still a teenager at the time. Since that introduction, she has maintained a consistent output of standalone tracks, joint efforts, and the 2021 EP Bittersweet.

Amaria McGee’s initial commercial releases appeared in 2020 via an alliance with the Fashionably Early imprint. By year’s end the four tracks “Morning,” “Waiting,” “Twilight,” and “Moon” had all surfaced; each one a clear, flowing slow jam crafted either by Amaria herself or by collaborators including Chai, K, Le Maestro, and Tee-Watt. The majority of these recordings quickly exceeded one million streams. The following year she unveiled the Mick Jenkins-assisted “Got Me Like” together with two additional well-received singles that served as lead-ups to Bittersweet, which arrived that August. In 2022 she teamed with Destin Conrad on “All for You,” then issued “Get Away” the subsequent February. By then she had already contributed guest vocals to recordings from Flwr Chyld, K, Le Maestro, Darius, and Asha Imuno.
