In the reggaeton scene, mixtapes and joint ventures frequently chart the route to prominence, a pattern clearly illustrated by Angel y Khriz. Shortly after Angel Rivera Guzman (Angel) and Christian Colon Rolon (Khriz) teamed up, they earned a featured slot on a track alongside veterans including Daddy Yankee, Hector "El Father," Tito "El Bambino," and Don Omar. Their striking contribution to that debut recording attracted sponsorship from Hector "El Father," which in turn yielded the single "Cazando Voy." The track attained platinum status and branded the pair "the revelation of the year."

In 2004 the duo signed with MVP Records and launched extensive tours throughout South and Central America. Strong sales for their debut album Los MVP's caught the eye of Universal's Machete Music, securing distribution aimed at the growing urban Latino audience. Sold-out appearances across numerous U.S. cities quickly established Angel y Khriz as one of reggaeton's most popular duos. Further momentum came from opening Premios la Juventud and closing the 2006 Latin Billboard Awards alongside Tito "El Bambino" and Wisin & Yandel, moves that expanded their visibility and promise. That same year "Ven Bailalo" received a nomination for reggaeton song of the year while Los MVP's earned gold certification.
