Biography
Emerging from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, where she entered the world in 1990, Angy first drew widespread attention as a teenage pop-punk performer after reaching the global talent contest Factor X and securing a Sony BMG contract. Still only 16 when she auditioned, she had just cleared the lower age threshold for the 16-24 bracket and placed second to María Villalón, yet the exposure proved sufficient for a recording deal. Her debut arrived in 2008 as a self-titled full-length on the label, shaped by producer José Ramón Flórez and a studio ensemble that included Javier Catalá on guitar plus arrangements and programming, Sergi Flores on keyboards, Pino Rovereto on drums, and Luigi Palazuelo on bass. Chosen to launch the project, the Thomas Salter and Sabelle Breer composition “Sola en el Silencio” scored a major hit and carried Angy upward on the charts. The same album also contains six English-language covers of well-known tracks originally recorded by Nirvana, Dover, Britney Spears, No Doubt, Michelle Branch, and Cindy Lauper.
