Manuel Angel Vergara Tenorio, who performs under the name Manu Tenorio, entered the world on April 1, 1975, in Triana, a neighborhood of Seville. After losing his father early in life, he grew up under the guidance of his mother and one uncle. By seventeen he had already recognized that music would define his path forward. He therefore picked up the guitar and began developing his voice without formal instruction, a self-directed approach he maintained throughout his professional years. Efforts with several neighborhood ensembles during his late teens and early twenties yielded little lasting progress. A fellow musician eventually alerted him to open auditions for the television competition Operacion Triunfo and urged him to submit an application. The exposure he received through the program quickly built a substantial following and supplied the credibility required to launch a solo career. His first album, titled Manu Tenorio, reached stores on April 22, 2002. Within eight weeks it surpassed 500,000 copies sold and occupied the top position on Spain’s national album chart for two consecutive weeks. Two years afterward came Blanco Anil, issued by Universal Latino, while Entenderas followed in 2006. With the 2008 appearance of Tres Palabras, Tenorio established a steady rhythm of releasing one project every two years, a pattern that continued when La Ley de la Atracción arrived in 2010 and En Primera Persona appeared in 2012.
