Biography
Anik Jean, a Canadian Francophone performer known for her dark strain of moody pop, issued her debut album Le Trashy Saloon in 2005. The track “Je Suis Partie” helped drive its reception, securing her an opening slot on the Rolling Stones’ Montreal date the next year. Two years later she returned with the Mark Plati-produced follow-up Le Ciel Saigne le Martyr. Beyond the commercial traction of her releases, Jean earned a 2005 Juno Award nomination for Best New Artist of the Year and a Much Music Video Award nod the year after.
