Biography
Originating from Quebec as a francophone pop vocalist, Annie Villeneuve first attracted widespread attention through her involvement in the 2003 edition of Star Académie, which directly launched her independent recording path. She entered the world on May 5, 1983, in Jonquière, Saguenay, Quebec. As a participant in the reality competition's debut season that same year, she placed fifth behind inaugural winner Wilfred Le Bouthillier, an outcome that secured her a contract with Les Disques Musicor. Her initial long-player arrived in 2005 under the title Quand Je Ferme les Yeux and earned platinum certification as a major success throughout Canada. The self-titled follow-up Annie Villeneuve surfaced in 2009 with comparatively modest commercial impact, although it still reached gold status and contained the single "Ce Soir."
