Annika Norlin

Swedish vocalist Annika Norlin, previously known for upbeat indie pop released under the Hello Saferide and Säkert! aliases, later chose to issue material under her birth name across multiple endeavors. Beyond contributing guest vocals to tracks by assorted fellow musicians, she joined forces with Jens Lekman to create the 2019 album Correspondence.

Born in 1977, Norlin launched her Hello Saferide project in the mid-2000s while employed as a music journalist. She divided her work so that English-language songs appeared under Hello Saferide and Swedish-language songs appeared under the comparably styled Säkert!, issuing numerous albums and EPs from each outlet between 2005 and 2017. In addition to her own releases she sometimes lent vocals to pieces by Vapnet, Dreamboy, and I'm on TV. Following an initial 2015 collaboration with indie songwriter Jens Lekman on one installment of his Postcards series, the pair reconvened in 2018 to produce the conceptual album Correspondence. The two exchanged songs monthly over the course of a year, yielding twelve tracks shaped by their ongoing musical dialogue. The album first appeared online in 2019, with a physical edition following the subsequent year via the Secretly Canadian label.
