Biography
Phil Anselmo, the onetime Pantera vocalist who also fronted Superjoint Ritual and Down, launched Arson Anthem to recapture the spirit of pure hardcore. The ensemble fused that hardcore approach with a substantial helping of sludge and delivered its debut EP, the eight-track self-titled Arson Anthem, in 2008. Anselmo played guitar, Eyehategod’s Mike Williams handled vocals, Collin Yeo covered bass, and Hank Williams III sat behind the drums. The project appeared on Housecore Records, the label Anselmo created to support his various side ventures.
