Hailing from Britain and tied to the French imprint Kitsuné Music, the electro duo AutoKratz released their first full-length album, Animal, in 2009 after issuing a string of EPs over the preceding couple of years. London serves as home base for the pair, David Cox and Russell Crank, who handle vocals and guitar alongside programming and production. Their introduction to Kitsuné Music arrived in 2007 via the Reaktor/It's On EP. Additional EPs soon appeared on the same label: 1000 Things/Last Show (2007), Pardon Garçon/French Girls Play Guitar (2008), and Stay the Same/Just Keep Walking (2008). Selected tracks from those releases were gathered together for the 2008 mini-album Down & Out in Paris & London. Animal marked their proper album debut and yielded the subsequent singles “Always More” and “Speak the Silence.” The duo backed the record with live dates across Great Britain, Western Europe, and Australia. AutoKratz also appeared frequently on the yearly Kitsuné Maison compilations, beginning with the placement of “Pardon Garçon” on volume five in 2007. Beyond their own productions, the duo supplied remixes for several prominent electronic acts, including Underworld (“Ring Road”), Fischerspooner (“The Best Revenge”), and La Roux (“Quicksand”).
