Biography
Formed in 2002 in New Zealand by Mike Carpinter, the one-time leader of Wellington favorites Canvas, Autozamm took shape once Carpinter chose to pursue a more direct rock direction. Nick Major joined on guitar, Ollie Gordon handled bass, and Jasper deRoos played drums. Hundreds of gigs across the country helped the quartet develop a following and refine their sound before they issued their first recording near the close of 2004. The full-length As for Now followed in 2005 and earned the band a place on the 2006 Big Day Out Festival bill. Their hit single "Killer Shoes" surfaced in 2007 and preceded the March 2008 arrival of the second album, Drama Queen.
