Nigerian vocalist, rapper, and producer Bloody Civilian arrived on the African music landscape in 2022 via the single “How to Kill a Man.” That same year her contribution “Wake Up” to the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack introduced her sound to listeners worldwide, prompting the swift appearance of two EPs—Anger Management and Anger Management: At Least wE tRIED—in 2023.

Born and raised in Abuja, Nigeria, as Emoseh Khamofu, she came of age in a home where music was constant; her father performed on bass with a band that toured regularly. Already inclined to compose her own songs, she picked up guitar and performed at school talent shows, then began self-producing tracks at fourteen. Blending R&B, Afrobeat, and hip-hop, she returned to public attention in 2022 with the unfiltered single “How to Kill a Man.” She next joined Rema for “Wake Up,” placed on the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, which carried her reach across continents. Early in 2023 she issued her first EP, Anger Management, pairing the opening single with “I Don’t Like You” and “Mad Apology.” After that project she signed with 0207, the U.K. arm of Def Jam, and delivered Anger Management: At Least wE tRIED, a set of reworked tracks featuring appearances by Tay Iwar, ODUMODUBLVCK, and JELEEL!
