Biography
New Zealanders Glenn Mossop, Regan Lethbridge, David Morgan, and Dan Chisholm first crossed paths as students and launched a band under the name Bonjahbango, which evolved into the roots rock quartet Bonjah. After trimming the moniker, the four musicians moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 2006. Their style—rooted in blues, soul, and reggae—gained definition through years of global touring and festival appearances, among them opening slots for the Who, G. Love & Special Sauce, Trinity Roots, and Eskimo Joe. The quartet issued its debut album, Until Dawn, in 2009; two years later came the more electric, uptempo follow-up Go Go Chaos. A 2013 cover of Lorde’s “Royals” drew fresh notice to the group, yet its strongest commercial showing arrived with 2014’s Beautiful Wild, which reached number 41 on the Australian album charts.
