Biography
Boy Kicks Girl carved out their presence in the expanding punk-pop landscape by forging fresh sonic outlines rooted in punk rock energy. The San Jose, CA trio assembled in August 1996 around Kevin La Bounty on vocals and guitar, Brandon Paski on bass and vocals, and Brett Holt on drums. Their combustible stage performances quickly attracted a devoted following, enabling the group to lay down their debut recording in March 1997. The self-released ...r Something Like That registered strong sales both in their home region and in neighboring states, which in turn funded an extensive run of Southwest dates over the ensuing months. Shared bills with Blink 182, the Ataris, and Dropkick Murphys further cleared the path for a second effort, Public Display of Agression, which reached stores in October 1998. For the next two years the band sustained a steady live schedule while securing consistent local radio rotation and steadily expanding their audience. In September 2000, despite this ongoing momentum, the California outfit declared their breakup.
