In his 2021 debut album Where My Heart Is, American singer-songwriter Brock Gonyea fuses the essence of classic country with the distinctive voices of Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams, all reframed within a modern country landscape.

Raised in Tupper Lake amid the forests of upstate New York, Gonyea grew up immersed in music; his father, grandfather, and uncle performed bluegrass and folk numbers, handing down those traditional pieces directly to him. That deep affinity for old-time country inspired him to record covers of vintage material and share them across his social media platforms. One such rendition, Faron Young’s “Hello Walls,” quickly spread online and drew the notice of Brynn Arens, who arranged for Gonyea to travel to Nashville and begin crafting new material. After an introduction at Big Machine, he signed with the label in 2020. Enlisting top session musicians from the Nashville country circuit, Gonyea developed the tracks that formed his debut EP. Released early in 2021, Where My Heart Is included several originals written by Gonyea alongside his interpretation of the previously unrecorded Mel Tillis and Webb Pierce composition “All Night Long,” dating back to the 1940s.
