Having received classical vocal training, Christopher Michael, known professionally as Chris Mann, first attracted widespread notice as a competitor on the 2012 edition of NBC’s The Voice. Raised in Wichita, Kansas, he completed his secondary education at Wichita Southeast High School in 2000 before enrolling at Vanderbilt University and earning a vocal-performance degree from its Blair School of Music. Following several years performing Italian opera across Europe, he relocated to Los Angeles and began accumulating numerous recording sessions for advertising spots as well as film and television scores. His return to The Voice that same year culminated in a fourth-place finish, instantly furnishing him with an enthusiastic following. In 2012 he also issued a Christmas-themed EP available exclusively through Wal-Mart and unveiled his first full-length solo project, Roads. The next year brought the expanded holiday collection Home for Christmas: The Chris Mann Christmas Special, which incorporated the earlier EP together with selections drawn from a PBS concert broadcast. Mann assumed the title role in the North American touring production of The Phantom of the Opera in 2015, then issued his second studio album, Constellation, the following year.
