English multi-instrumentalist Danny Worsnop, active as a singer, songwriter, vocal producer, and actor, first stepped into country music with his debut solo album The Long Road Home in 2017. Two years later, Shades of Blue folded soul and blues textures into an already wide-ranging style.

His musical curiosity surfaced in childhood when he banged out rhythms on household items and started violin lessons at age six. Those studies expanded to include trumpet, leading him into his school orchestra. During his teenage years he began composing original singer/songwriter material and took up both guitar and bass guitar. He then joined Asking Alexandria, whose debut Stand Up and Scream appeared on Sumerian Records in late 2009; the group toured the United States alongside From First to Last and Memphis May Fire. Two further releases followed—Reckless and Relentless in 2011 and From Death to Destiny in 2013—both earning strong critical and commercial notice before Worsnop left the band in 2016.

In 2011 he simultaneously launched We Are Harlot, whose self-titled Roadrunner Records debut surfaced in early 2015 and achieved major success. Solo work continued as well; he wrote and tracked his first independent record with producer Jim Kaufman (Funeral for a Friend, Skindred, Helmet). Issued in February 2017 on Earache, The Long Road Home topped country streaming charts and favored an organic, Americana-rooted sound built from blues-drenched country songs. His second solo outing, the country-soul-and-blues-infused Shades of Blue, arrived in 2019.
