Biography
David Adam Byrnes works as both vocalist and songwriter, creating tracks that merge core country roots with modern touches allowing faint pop and rock elements to surface. Drawing from performers who upheld classic country styles during the 1980s and 1990s, he explored themes of routine existence and Southern routines, set to matching sounds, across his debut full-length Premium Country, issued in 2011. As the decade progressed he incorporated additional numbers centered on beer and carefree moments, including "Beer Bucket List" and "Already High," even while his material continued reflecting an affinity for traditional honky tonk.
Born and raised in Sherwood, Arkansas, Byrnes grew up in a working-class household that valued its status, often requiring the youngster to assist with domestic tasks while peers played outside and thereby instilling an appreciation for the returns of genuine effort. At age three his parents brought him to a George Strait show, after which country music held him completely. Prior to owning a guitar he staged imaginary performances in the family living room, outfitted in boots, a cowboy hat, and the largest belt buckle available. At five he began playing guitar and soon formed the Telephone Pioneers with friends; the group first performed regularly at local retirement homes before advancing to area honky tonks, and the evening before Byrnes finished high school they served as openers for Hank Williams, Jr.
At nineteen Byrnes relocated from Arkansas to Nashville intent on building a music career. Following several years of early struggles he began attracting listeners and secured an opening slot on a Mark Chesnutt tour, one of the three primary influences alongside Strait and Keith Whitley. In 2010 he signed with independent Better Angels, which issued his initial single "Sweet Distraction" that July and followed with the album Premium Country in May 2011. Continued songwriting and performances led him to Silverado Records, which put out the six-track EP Tell Me I Won't in August 2015. Growing recognition brought higher-profile bookings, placing him on bills with Eric Church, Aaron Watson, Chris Stapleton, and Cody Johnson. During 2018 Byrnes released three upbeat singles that gained traction through streaming platforms and broadened his reach: "Tequila, Salt and Time," "Already High," and "Beer Bucket List."
