Although sentimentality defines Drew Baldridge's core strength, the Illinois native also handles upbeat country-pop with ease, a contrast highlighted by his signature ballad "She's Somebody's Daughter." First issued in 2019, the track evolved into a wedding anthem during the early 2020s, prompting Baldridge to issue comparable slow-tempo follow-ups such as "Can She Have This Dance" and "I Do Two" in 2023 while still delivering energetic counterparts like "Honky Tonk Town."

Born in Patoka, Illinois in 1992, Baldridge sang alongside his father in church from an early age and started piano lessons in kindergarten before shifting to guitar during his teenage years. He absorbed both country and pop growing up, citing Brooks & Dunn and Eric Church alongside Michael Jackson and the Backstreet Boys, and soon became a regular at local talent shows near his hometown. In high school he balanced athletics and music, competing on the basketball and baseball squads while performing the National Anthem at most games; after witnessing a Josh Turner concert at age 18, he committed to a country career. Declining an athletic college scholarship, he relocated to Nashville to sharpen his songwriting and stage skills.

Baldridge secured recording and publishing agreements with THiS Music in 2013 and delivered his debut single "B.Y.O.B." late that year, followed by "All Good" in November 2013 and "She's Taken" in April 2014. His first EP, the four-track Crossing Country Lines, appeared in December 2014. A sequel, Crossing Country Lines, Vol. 2, arrived in April 2015 and spotlighted the soon-to-be fan favorites "Dance with Ya" and "God's Front Porch." The former gained sufficient momentum to be released as a single in May 2015. That November he signed with Cold River Records, which issued the Dance with Ya EP containing the title track plus four new songs. In June 2016 Baldridge released his debut full-length album Dirt on Us through the label; the project again featured "Dance with Ya," added the duet "Rebound" with Emily Weisband, and included a gospel cut performed with his brothers Mike Baldridge and Doug Baldridge.

"Guns & Roses" surfaced in 2017 and "Gentle Man" followed in 2018, yet Cold River closed the following year. Baldridge started his own Lyric Ridge imprint later in 2019 with "God's People," the first in a string of releases that built toward "She's Somebody's Daughter." Initial response was modest, so he continued issuing singles through 2022, the year he unveiled his second album Country Born. Around that period the ballad began circulating widely as emotional accompaniment to social-media clips. He capitalized on the momentum by releasing "She's Somebody's Daughter (The Wedding Version)" in 2021 and "She's Somebody's Daughter (Remix)" in 2022. In 2023 he addressed his expanding audience with "Big Prayers," "Can She Have This Dance," and "I Do Two," yet only "She's Somebody's Daughter" reached the charts, peaking at number eight on Billboard's Country Airplay tally in 2024 and inspiring the subsequent "She's Somebody's Daughter (Reimagined)."
