Biography
Destrage formed in 2005 as a Milan-based hard rock ensemble whose sound fuses melody-driven groove with math, djent, and progressive metal elements, yielding technically demanding yet cinematic results first heard on the 2007 debut Urban Being and later on the 2016 release A Means to No End. The lineup includes vocalist Paolo Colavolpe, drummer Federico Paulovich, bassist Gabriel Pignata, and guitarists Matteo Di Gioia and Ralph Guido Salati. Their initial long-player, Urban Being, appeared on Coroner Records, which also issued the follow-up The King Is Fat 'N' Old in 2010. Growing visibility led Metal Blade to sign the group in 2013; their first album for the imprint, Are You Kidding Me? No., arrived the next year. After extensive festival appearances across Europe and the United States, the band returned to the studio under Di Gioia’s production, joined by saxophonist Luca Mai of ZU, jazz keyboardist Fabio Visocchi, and electronicist Fabrizio “Izio” Pagni, resulting in the 2019 album Chosen One.
