Biography
Born Byron Cox in Detroit, Michigan during 1993, the artist known as Dex Osama entered the rap scene as a native of that city. Recognition came his way on a regional level via numerous independent releases and guest spots on tracks by fellow MCs, highlighted by the singles "Choppa (Freestyle)" and "Death on Me," along with his contribution to a remix version of Oba Rowland's "Lifestyle, Pt. 2." Between 2013 and 2015, his primary years of activity, Osama secured a deal with Dreamchasers, the imprint founded by Meek Mill, and put out several videos accompanying his music. The morning hours of September 7, 2015 saw him gunned down outside a Detroit strip club amid a dispute that featured his girlfriend, employed there, along with a pair of additional individuals. His passing occurred mere days prior to turning 22 and ahead of the September 11, 2015 drop of the 9/11 mixtape.
