Operating under the stylized mononym dhruv, London-based singer-songwriter and producer Dhruv Sharma, who was raised in Singapore, emerged as a viral sensation in 2021 after his track "Double Take" achieved widespread streaming success. His first full-length release, the album Private Blizzard, arrived in 2024.

Dhruv began crafting songs during his early teens, taking cues from Bollywood films along with the work of Frank Ocean, the Beatles, and Amy Winehouse. Blending pop and R&B, he started sharing acoustic demos online before issuing his official debut, the lush and amorous "Double Take," in 2019. The single gained traction across social platforms the next year and reached millions of streams by 2021. Later that year he unveiled two further singles, "Moonlight" and "Vulnerable," all three of which featured on his debut EP, Rapunzel, in 2022. Early 2024 brought the wry breakup song "Tragedy," the amorous "How?," and the driving "Speed of Light," each of which appeared on Private Blizzard when it was released that May.
