In the mid-1980s the Spanish outfit Distrito 14 came together and laid down an album in Frankfurt, Germany, though the project stayed unreleased. After operating under the monikers Pécora Jarris and Ira, the musicians reconvened in 1988 to support Dr. Feelgood on tour. A demo shaped by Ollie Halsall helped the group land a recording contract, which resulted in the EMI-issued EP Dias De Gloria in 1993 and the subsequent album El Cielo Lo Sabe. Distrito 14 soon joined forces with John Evans to launch the independent label El Milagro, through which they released La Calle Del Sol. A concert captured at Zaragoza’s Auditorium in October 1996 appeared on disc the next year. Two years after that, the band pursued an ambitious undertaking by recording live with the Cuban Symphonic Orquestra, producing the album A Mitad Del Camino that Prames issued in 1999; Live in Chicago arrived in 2000.
