Dutch singer and songwriter Duncan Laurence first gained widespread attention as a pop performer after entering The Voice Holland during its 2014 season and later claiming victory at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with “Arcade.” Capitalizing on that triumph, he issued his platinum-certified debut album Small Town Boy in 2020. Over the ensuing two years he continued issuing solo material such as “Stars” and “Electric Life.”

Although born in Spijkenisse, Laurence grew up in Hellevoetsluis and made his earliest mark on the music scene in 2013 by assembling the pop ensemble the Slick and Suited. Shortly afterward he pursued an independent path, advancing to the semifinals of The Voice Holland’s fifth season and ultimately leaving the group in 2016. Selected to represent the Netherlands at Eurovision in 2019, he captured the top prize with “Arcade.” The next year saw the arrival of his debut solo EP Worlds on Fire alongside the full-length Small Town Boy. Powered by the Eurovision hit, the album climbed to number six on the Dutch charts and yielded further singles including “Love Don’t Hate It,” “Someone Else,” and “Stars.” In 2022 he continued releasing independent tracks, among them the duet “WDIA (Would Do It Again)” with Rosa Linn and the charting single “Electric Life.”
