Dwayne Ford launched his professional music career in the early 1970s alongside the Nomads. He next joined forces with bassist Terry Danko, guitarists Jim Atkinson and Hugh Brockie, and drummer Brian Hilton under the name Atkinson, Danko and Ford, the ensemble that produced his initial recordings. Additional bands followed across the ensuing years, interspersed with noteworthy solo projects. A multi-instrumentalist on guitar, vocals, drums, and keyboards, Ford also established himself as a sought-after session musician.

Raised in Edmonton as a Canadian native, Ford was still essentially a teenager when he first toured with Ronnie Hawkins and his band. He refined his abilities through repeated club and concert engagements across Canada. During the 1970s he contributed to several albums, among them Friends With Bearfoot, Passing Time, and a self-titled group effort. Closing out that decade and opening the next, he focused on solo releases Another Way to Fly and Needless Freaking, while issuing the standalone singles “Everlasting Love,” “Roll Me Away,” “Stranger in Paradise,” “Hurricane,” and “We’ll Find a Way.”
