Biography
El Payo Malo, the Spanish MC born Jose Antonio Abril, left his birthplace of Granada at age eleven and settled in Torrente de la Marina, Tarrasa. Late-1980s American rap records sparked his interest and drew him into the local Funkomuna scene, where he quickly took part in both the studio work and stage appearances of the Barcelona hip-hop outfit Solo Los Solo. The regional independent label Avoid issued his first single, “Tropiezos y Pasos,” in 2000 and followed it the next year with the album Con La Tierra En Los Bolsillos.
