Emerging on the Spanish underground in the first half of the 1990s, the collective La Puta Opepe fused urban rhythms with hip-hop and reggae during their earliest shows. Prior to issuing their debut full-length, the outfit laid down the tracks “Esplendor en la Yerba” and “La Gran L,” after which Yo Gano Records put out Vacaciones en el Mar in 1996. In 1998 the group followed with the EP Batalla de Cazalla, and two years after that Superego-Yo Gano released the album La Puta Opepe Presenta Cunaos del Fonk en Chanelance.
