Biography
Elodie Frégé stands out as one luminous voice among the wave of young performers elevated by early-21st-century reality television. The Cosne-Cours-sur-Loire native captured the 2003 edition of Star Academy France and subsequently built a recording career that traversed pop, jazz, and Latin sounds, the last of which surfaced on her 2013 album Amuse Bouches. Parallel to her discography, she took on acting roles in comedies such as Potiche (2010) and The Easy Way Out (2014) while later serving as a judge during the eleventh season of Nouvelle Star.
Born February 15, 1982, in Nievre, France, Frégé trained on guitar and studied ballet during childhood yet was employed as a medical secretary when she earned a spot in the third season of the amateur showcase Star Academy France. Though viewed as an underdog against competitors that included Sofia Essaïdi, she secured the final victory. Her self-titled debut album quickly arrived and yielded the hit singles “De l’Eau” and “Viens Jusqu’à Moi.” For the follow-up, 2006’s Le Jeu des 7 Erreurs, she collaborated with composer-producer Benjamin Biolay, achieving solid chart placement even if it did not replicate the first release’s impact.
With the darker-toned La Fille de l’Après-Midi in 2010, Frégé had already moved into film, appearing first in the Belgian-French comedy Potiche and then in Hénaut Président two years afterward. After issuing her fourth album, the Latin-infused Amuse Bouches in 2013, she featured in another comedy, The Easy Way Out (2014), and joined the judging panel for Nouvelle Star’s eleventh season. In subsequent years she maintained an acting schedule while contributing two tracks to Nouvelle Vague’s 2016 album I Could Be Happy and joining Cyril Mokaiesh for the 2017 duet “Houleux.”
