Biography
Envy & Other Sins originated in Birmingham, England, shaped by English stalwarts such as the Kinks and Roxy Music along with the Welsh rock combo Super Furry Animals. The quartet, standing in for much of England's Midlands region, rose to notice by claiming the grand award—a recording agreement with A&M—in Channel 4's nationwide talent contest MobileAct Unsigned. Its roster features Ali Forbes on vocals and guitar, Mark Lees on bass and vocals, Jim Macaulay on drums, and Jarvey Moss on keys and vocals. The first single issued through the fresh label, "Highness," surfaced in March 2008. Their debut album, We Leave At Dawn, followed immediately, reaching stores by the close of that month. Plans were then under way for a 2008 tour alongside fellow Brit-rock upstarts the Hoosiers to promote the release.
