Biography
Figg Panamera, the rapper, producer, and entrepreneur formerly known as JT the Bigga Figga, entered hip-hop in the early 1990s and has since contributed to hundreds of albums while maintaining steady visibility across gangsta rap, G-funk, and trap circles. Born Joseph Tom in San Francisco in 1971, he launched Get Low Recordz at the decade’s outset and generated early regional attention through his initial releases, Don’t Stop Til We Major and Playaz N the Game. The SWV-sampling track “Game Recognize Game” from the second album secured enough radio rotation to earn JT a Priority Records deal, resulting in the 1995 project Dwellin’ in tha Labb. That set featured E-40, Celly Cel, Master P, and additional guests, ultimately becoming his strongest commercial performer; subsequent Priority efforts sold less, prompting the label to drop him. In 2000 he arranged fresh distribution through Bayside Records and proceeded to issue a prolific catalog that encompassed projects alongside Juvenile, Daz Dillinger, the Game, Snoop Dogg, and numerous others. He also authored the e-book The CEO Manual, wrote and directed scores of films and documentaries, and served as West Coast A&R for Houston’s Rap-A-Lot Records. After moving to Atlanta, he adopted the Figg Panamera name in the early 2010s, established the Fillmoelanta imprint, and issued mixtapes that included joint work with Gucci Mane and Kevin Gates. Two installments of The Independent Game arrived in 2014, carrying features from Migos, Future, Young Thug, and further artists; God’s Plan and Traffic Stop Gon Bad followed in 2015, while Cali Boy Down South surfaced in 2017 and contained the 21 Savage cut “Money Talk.”
