Emerging from England's vibrant club circuit as seasoned remix practitioners, Futureshock aligned early with Junior Boys Own, the influential dance imprint that also hosted Underworld and the Chemical Brothers. Birmingham natives Alex Tepper and Phil Dockerty launched the project, which first drew attention via reworkings for Moby and the Chemical Brothers plus a co-writing credit on Underworld's "Question (Why Why Why)." Their Fuju label began issuing Futureshock tracks in 2000, opening with "Sparc," a cut that quickly entered the sets of numerous DJs including Carl Cox and Nick Warren. The duo's debut album, Phantom Theory, surfaced on Junior in March 2003.
