Biography
Gary Stroutsos draws from an eclectic range of sounds spanning Afro-Cuban rhythms to jazz yet finds his truest expression on cedar flutes rooted in Native American practice. Deeply committed to both indigenous traditions and ecological causes, he has placed his recordings in multiple Native showcases and appeared at the British Columbia telecast Caretakers of the Earth marking Earth Day. Joining forces with Jonn Serrie in 2000, he issued the new age fusion recording Hidden World. Early the following year came his unaccompanied project Pacific Moon. Twelve months after that he issued two further collections: the Paul Thompson collaboration Echoes of Canyon de Chelly together with Oru: The Natural Order, which paired him with vocalists Lazaro Galarraga and Elaine Hernandez.
