Biography
Emerging swiftly amid the mid-1990s, Gigi Leung built an early profile as both a film actress and a multilingual pop singer rooted in Hong Kong. She entered the world there on March 25, 1976, then stepped onto the screen in 1995 and received a Best Newcomer nomination from that year’s Hong Kong Film Awards for her supporting turn in Full Throttle. The following year Warner Music Hong Kong backed her recording debut, issuing the Cantonese-language album Love Songs for Myself. In 1997 she moved into the Mandarin market via Short Hair, after which she maintained an annual schedule of releasing albums in both languages.
